Privacy Policy
In short
- All video processing happens on your device. Your videos are never uploaded to us or to anyone else.
- There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.
- FrameGrab has no servers that store your content, and the app works fully offline (airplane mode).
- The only time information leaves your device is when you choose to send us an email.
1. Who this policy applies to
This Privacy Policy describes how the FrameGrab iOS application ("FrameGrab", "the app") handles information. It applies to the app and to this website. By using the app you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information we do not collect
We do not collect, request or store any of the following:
- Names, email addresses, phone numbers or any other contact details (there is no sign-up or login)
- Your videos, images, audio or any file you import into the app
- Usage statistics, analytics, crash reports or behavioural data
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA) or any tracking identifiers
- Location data, contacts, calendars, health data, microphone or camera input
- Device identifiers used for profiling, or any data sold or shared with third parties
3. How your videos and photos are handled
Everything FrameGrab does with your media takes place locally, using Apple's on-device frameworks.
Importing
- When you pick a video from Photos or Files, or when you share a video into FrameGrab from another app, the app copies that single file into its own private storage area on your device so that decoding is reliable and fast.
- Only the files you explicitly choose are accessed. FrameGrab does not scan or browse your photo library or file system.
Processing
- Frames are decoded and written entirely on your device. No video, frame or metadata is transmitted anywhere for processing.
- The app contains no networking code for uploading content, and it functions normally with all network access disabled.
Saving and sharing
- Saving a frame writes it to your Photos library, which requires your permission.
- Sharing a frame uses Apple's standard share sheet. You choose the destination; we are not involved in, and cannot see, the result.
4. Data stored on your device, and how long it is kept
| What | Where it lives | How long it is kept |
|---|---|---|
| Imported video copies | FrameGrab's private app storage | Until you remove the entry from History, or delete the app |
| Extracted frames | FrameGrab's private app storage | Until you delete them, or clear them in Settings → Storage |
| App settings (language, appearance, export defaults) | FrameGrab's private app storage | Until you change them, or delete the app |
| Frames you saved to Photos | Your photo library, under your control | Until you delete them in Photos |
You can clear everything the app stores in one step with Settings → Storage → Clear all extracted frames. Deleting the app from your device removes all of its local data. Frames you already saved to Photos are not affected by either action.
5. Emails you send us
FrameGrab's feedback option prepares a message in your own mail app; nothing is sent unless you press send there. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, including any diagnostics you choose to include. We use that information only to answer you and to improve the app, and we keep it only as long as needed for that purpose. Your mail provider's own privacy policy also applies.
6. Permissions and why they are requested
| Permission | Why | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| Photos — read | To let you pick a video to extract frames from | Only if you import from Photos |
| Photos — add | To save extracted frames to your library | Only if you save to Photos |
Permissions are requested only when you first use the related feature, never at launch. FrameGrab does not request access to the camera, microphone, location, contacts or any other system data.
7. Third-party services
FrameGrab does not include third-party advertising, analytics or data-broker SDKs, and we do not sell, rent or share personal information. The app relies only on Apple's own system frameworks (video decoding, photo library access, file access, sharing and the mail composer), which are governed by Apple's privacy practices.
8. Children's privacy
FrameGrab is a general-purpose utility suitable for all ages. Because the app collects no personal information at all, it does not knowingly or unknowingly collect data from children.
9. Security
Your media stays within the app's sandboxed storage, protected by iOS and by your device passcode or biometrics. Because no content is transmitted to us, there is no server-side copy that could be exposed. Please keep in mind that any device you use can be inspected by anyone who has your unlock credentials.
10. Your rights and choices
- Access and deletion: all data the app holds is on your device and visible in the app; you can delete it at any time in Settings → Storage, per item in the gallery, or by removing the app.
- Communication: simply choose not to send us email, or ask us to delete an email you already sent.
11. Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices ever change, this policy will be updated and the effective date above revised. Material changes will be reflected in the app's App Store listing.
